Jaw Botox and Skin Laxity: Can Ultraformer MPT Help Tighten the Jawline?

Jaw-slimming Botox injections are commonly used to relax the masseter muscles and create a slimmer-looking lower face. But what happens when the jaw muscles become smaller and the skin around the lower face begins to look looser?

At Bloom Skin & Laser, we have noticed that some clients who have previously had jaw-relaxing Botox injections can present with more noticeable skin laxity, jowling and reduced jawline definition.

This is where Ultraformer MPT skin tightening may be considered.

Why Can the Jawline Look Looser After Jaw Botox?

Jaw Botox works by relaxing the masseter muscles. With repeated treatments, the masseter muscles may reduce in size.

For some people, particularly those who already have reduced skin elasticity, the change in underlying facial volume and support can make existing loose skin or sagging around the jawline appear more noticeable.

This doesn't happen to everyone. Age, skin elasticity, facial structure, the amount and frequency of Botox, and other individual factors can all affect the appearance of the lower face.

What We Have Observed During Ultraformer MPT Treatments

One interesting difference we have observed in our clinic is the immediate visible response during Ultraformer MPT treatment.

With many clients who have not had regular jaw-relaxing Botox, we can sometimes see a noticeable difference in firmness and definition immediately after treating one side of the face.

During a half-face comparison—where one side has been treated while the other side has not yet been treated—the treated side may already appear firmer, tighter and more defined.

However, in some clients with a history of repeated jaw Botox and significant skin laxity, this immediate tightening effect may be less obvious.

This does not necessarily mean the treatment has not worked. Ultraformer MPT results develop progressively, and individual responses vary depending on skin condition, tissue support, age and previous treatments.

Should You Have Ultraformer MPT If You Regularly Have Jaw Botox?

It depends on your goals.

If you intend to continue having masseter Botox regularly purely to maintain a smaller jaw muscle, it is important to understand that Botox and Ultraformer MPT are working on different structures and for different purposes.

Botox relaxes the muscle.

Ultraformer MPT uses focused ultrasound energy at selected tissue depths with the aim of lifting, tightening and improving the appearance of skin laxity.

If your main concern after jaw Botox is now loose skin, jowls or loss of jawline definition, an Ultraformer MPT treatment may still be worth considering—even if your result is not as pronounced as someone with stronger underlying muscle support and less skin laxity.

The goal is no longer simply to make the jaw smaller. It is also to address the appearance of the loose or sagging tissue around the lower face and jawline.

Botox or Ultraformer MPT? They Are Not the Same Treatment

The most important question is not simply, “Which treatment is better?”

It is what is causing the concern you see in the mirror?

If the concern is a prominent masseter muscle, a consultation with an appropriately qualified medical practitioner can determine whether jaw Botox is suitable.

If the concern is skin laxity, jowling or loss of jawline definition, a skin-tightening treatment such as Ultraformer MPT may be more relevant.

For clients who have already had repeated jaw Botox and are now concerned about lower-face laxity, we recommend an individual assessment before treatment.

Ultraformer MPT Jawline & Skin Tightening in Brisbane

At Bloom Skin & Laser Brisbane, we assess the face individually rather than treating every jawline in the same way.

If you have previously had jaw-relaxing Botox and have noticed looser skin, jowls or less definition around your jawline, contact Bloom Skin & Laser to discuss whether Ultraformer MPT may be suitable for your concerns.

Individual results vary. Immediate changes are not guaranteed and progressive results may take time to develop. Treatment suitability should be assessed individually.

UltraformerIII vs. Other HIFU: Which is better?

While both UltraformerIII and HIFU use high intensity focused ultrasound technology to promote collagen regeneration and tighten body tissues.

Ultraformer III is considered to be a more advanced treatment.

This is because Ultraformer III is the world’s only Micro and Macro- Focused Ultrasound system.

The patented transducer delives more efficient, accurate and higher frequency of ultrasound energy and delivers it in shorter bursts, allowing for more precise and controlled heating of the body tissues.

In conclusion, Ultraformer III is a more advanced and effective treatment than traditional HIFU.
